EP98: The Power of Your Pen
Every individual adds a unique flair to this world we share. Your thoughts, words, and expressions deserve to be celebrated. It’s time to intentionally set a practice of documenting and acknowledging your authentic self. This episode talks about the power of your pen.
This past week, I’m continuing to purge and generally clean up loose ends. In the middle of this, I discovered an old journal entry tucked in the pages of an old book I swiped through. It’s from around a decade ago during my divorce. As I read it, I recalled the relationship, the co-dependency, and the change I needed at that time. The words in that journal entry were a reflection of shifting my focus back to myself instead of prioritizing others. The power of the pen kept that beautiful transition ingrained in that journal entry.
I’m here to spend quality solo time with you for EP98’s Wise Walk as we discover our True Stride. The power of the pen reminds me of the efforts and contributions I made to evolve into the me I am today. Actually, another way the power of the pen shows up in my life is my dream journal. I started writing my dreams down as a gift to myself. In this way, I acknowledge and nurture my unique dreams and reflections of my inner world.
On our Wise Walk, I talk about honoring how you show up in the world with the power of the pen. Like a gratitude journal or scripting for manifestation, you can give your desires the recognition they need to thrive. Come with me as we reflect on these Wise Walk questions:
-
- Where in your life do you want to shift something and have you taken time to write it down for yourself?
- If you have written it down, is it easily accessible for you? (ex. printed out or on a vision board)
- What are other ways in your life that you use the power of your pen?
- Where in your life are you exercising the power of your pen?
- Is there something in your life that you want to acknowledge or honor what’s unique about you?
- Will you take time for yourself and create the power of the pen so that you can see your uniqueness visually?
Allow yourself to express your thoughts through visuals or words. You can plan a vision board, or write a memo to yourself, or doodle affirmations.
In tune with this, connecting to the power of the pen can open a space for support. Your words may offer support to someone else or they can communicate what support you’d like from others. Gift the power of your pen with these Wise Walk questions:
-
- Can you gift the power of your pen?
- Where in your life do you have the ability to document what’s important to you?
- Are you making a commitment to document what you need support on?
- What are the different ways that you can document what you want to manifest or recognize to elevate your reality?
- Where in your life can you exercise the power of your thoughts and expression?

EP97: Write Your Story in Your Truest Voice with AJ Harper
Our Heart Value can serve us and others in so many ways. You can transfer a huge amount of encouragement or empowerment by confidently telling the story of your True Stride. This episode talks about how to write your story for the peeps in your life that matter most.
AJ Harper is an editor and publishing strategist who helps authors write transformational books that enable them to build readership, grow their brand, and make a significant impact on the world. As a ghostwriter and as a developmental editor, she has worked with hundreds of authors, from newbies to New York Times bestselling authors with millions of books sold. She is the Head Writing Coach for Heroic Public Speaking, the premier speaker training program created by Michael and Amy Port. She is writing partner to business author Mike Michalowicz. AJ is also the author of Write a Must-Read: Craft a Book That Changes Lives–Including Your Own.
On EP 76’s Wise Walk, AJ and I discuss how you can find your truth and write a story that speaks directly to people who resonate with you. I know from experience, since Heart Value would not be here without AJ. She challenged me to explore my heart-centered passions and tap into the value I wanted to give to Striders. AJ understands how to balance the needs of authors and readers to protect an author’s true intentions.
On our Wise Walk, open your mind to realize your vision for your book and learn to not compromise on what value you want to provide for readers. You’ll get useful ideas on breaking past myths and releasing the lies we tell ourselves that keep us from fully engaging our work. We’re dispelling book publishing misinformation and sharing how book writing can be a reflective process. Come with me as we reflect on AJ’s fundamentals and these Wise Walk questions:
-
- Who is your ideal reader?
- Who are the people you want to help?
- What is your core message?
- What is a promise you can commit to and deliver on?
AJ believes that if an author is struggling to get past the outline or the first chapter of their book, they’re probably not writing the book they’re meant to write. You have something inside of you that you want to share. You need to find out how to pull away the false filters that distort your message.
You should only want filters that honor your truth and cut out distractions. Advocate for yourself and write great books with these Wise Walk questions:
-
- How connected are you to your voice?
- Where in life are you adopting someone else’s voice?
- Where can you exercise validating your own voice and style?
- What are the myths you adopted as you grew up, and how can you find your actual truth?

EP96: Express What You Want
You are going to attract more of what you want when you are naturally standing in your truth. In those moments of sharing what you truly feel and think, you discover that your uniqueness does not need to suffer. This episode talks about expressing what we want.
I became a certified Stand Up Paddle Board yoga instructor. It was an intensive weekend but a lot of fun. It gave me great exposure to different people and how they do yoga. Since I was around people that I completely don’t know, I took the opportunity to connect with how I communicate what I want.
I’m here to spend quality solo time with you for EP96’s Wise Walk as we discover our True Stride. My typical default is to people-please. I’m highly observant so I can easily read a room. Since I can sense what others want or need, sometimes my high empathy may prevent me from speaking up on what I want. There are times to be observant and silent, and there are times to speak up. I thought: If I know what I want, why not share it just like everyone else in the group?
On our Wise Walk, I talk about how you can express what you want to validate yourself. I urge you to realize that your voice is just as important as the people around you. Come with me as we reflect on these Wise Walk questions:
-
- When you are in new situations or a new environment, how often do you find yourself not sharing your voice?
- Is it because you don’t know what you want or because you have been conditioned to have a “go along & get along” mentality?
- If you do refrain from speaking up and sharing your truth, do you find yourself disappointed with yourself because how could anyone know what you really want if you’re not willing to put yourself out there and share?
- If you find yourself holding back in new situations, is there a way for you to drop into your heart, go deep, and understand what you want, then bravely share that without attachment?
- As you’re on this Wise Walk, is there a way for you to start exercising this muscle of speaking up?
- When you share what feels right for you, will you notice how it makes you feel?
The universe is encouraging you to speak up and own your truth. Try it and see what comes your way. By sharing what you want, everything around you will do a better job of supporting you.
Share your unique perspective to honor yourself. Let’s key in on what we really want with these Wise Walk questions:
-
- Where in your life can you speak up and share what you want whether you’re asked or not?
- Where can you drop into your heart and say “Ok, this is what I want” and who can you share that with?
- When you do speak up, can you release the attachment of what you want?

[13:01] – Communicating what you want can help others show up for you or help you have a good experience.

EP95: Habits That Heal
Empowering habits helps you settle your mind. When we’re busy running around and living life, our habits influence how we move and show up in these spaces. How can we develop habits that improve our experience of life? This episode talks about habits that heal.
It may be hard to believe, but I used to smoke regularly. It was part of my daily habits, even when running, until it was time to let it go. I decided to quit smoking when I set a goal to run the New York City Marathon. The marathon was more important than that old habit. While preparing for the marathon and quitting smoking, I realized I had to introduce other new habits to get serious about my commitment.
I’m here to spend quality solo time with you for EP95’s Wise Walk as we discover our True Stride. Habits heal our relationship with certain behaviors or mindsets, and the best part is that habits can start a positive chain reaction into the other parts of our life. A system of good habits can support our commitment to a new lifestyle.
On our Wise Walk, I explore the idea of super habits, a concept I came across in the book Self Empower: Using Self-Coaching, Neuroadaptability, and Ayurveda by Robert Keith Wallace, Samantha Wallace, and Ted Wallace. I’ll explain why these super habits cross into other parts of our life. Come with me as we reflect on these Wise Walk questions:
-
- What are the habits that you’re incorporating in your life that are healing for you?
- Is there a super habit that you want to incorporate that will create a positive ripple effect in your life so that you can see benefits from making one choice and action that feels right to you, right now?
- What is a habit that you want to incorporate in your life, and how are you setting up your day for success? And how are you fine-tuning your practice to have it become second nature to you?
One of the new habits I’m incorporating is mediation more than once a day. A consistent mediation practice releases deep-rooted stress. I’ll tell you how I’m tackling this new habit so far and what I’m doing to support my commitment to mediation.
Most habits don’t start off as second nature or automatic. Let’s check where we can remove resistance to new habits with these Wise Walk questions:
-
- If you’re struggling, is there a support group or are there other people that can hold you accountable and what does that look like?
- What ways can you set yourself up for success, so that you can use that habit to heal and create a positive chain reaction?
- Have you taken time to list out the many areas of your life that are going to benefit from this one habit that ripples into other areas of your life?
- Is there something holding you back from the habit related to time commitment, perfectionism, or procrastination?
- Can you give yourself space and grace to build yourself up so that one day it will be as second nature as brushing your teeth?
- What are you going to start or stop to get into a better rhythm for the habits you structure into your life?

EP94: Celebrate Your Sexy Self-Reflection
The daily ability to self-reflect and apply what you learn or discover to your everyday life is sexy. No doubt about it. You take time to self-reflect every week with the True Stride podcast, so YOU are sexy. This episode celebrates your sexy self-reflection.
I had a chat with a friend who met a new dude and, from what I heard, it’s going well so far. When I asked what had her so jazzed about the guy she’s seeing, my friend said she likes that he’s really good at self-reflection. She thinks it’s sexy. He’s honoring who he is and presenting himself in a way that others can get to know who he is. Honestly, it’s understandable that self-reflection and self-awareness are attractive traits.
I’m here to spend quality solo time with you for EP94’s Wise Walk as we discover our True Stride. Let’s evaluate how sexy we are for taking time to self-reflect and look at what that does for us as individuals and what that does for people around us. What we say “yes” and “no” to creates space for opportunities to align with the activities, people, and experiences we want.
On our Wise Walk, I explore how self-reflection allows you to key-in on who you are and who you want to be. I also talk about how it helps you share that connection to yourself with others. Come with me as we reflect on these Wise Walk questions:
-
- Do you currently take time to celebrate and honor the sexy self-reflection in you?
- How often in your life are you self-reflecting?
- Are you training your self-reflection muscle so it becomes a natural reflex?
- If you are using it regularly, how has self-reflection changed your life and your connections with others?
- Where in your life are you noticing those opportunities that you’re saying “heck yes,” or those opportunities where you’re hesitant?
- In those hesitant moments, can you give yourself the opportunity to say “no”, to make room for more “heck yes“ moments?
- With each day, can you take time to self-reflect on how experiences make you feel?
- When you feel off, can you say “no” to bring yourself back into alignment, and say “yes” to opportunities that attract more of what you want?
You are unique. We’re all unique, and we all need different things at different times. Self-reflection helps you stand in your truth so that you’re following the path that is best for you.
The time you take to be with yourself will nourish your True Stride. Celebrate and appreciate who you are and who you are becoming with these Wise Walk questions:
-
- Where are you self-reflecting and listening to your body?
- Where do you notice that you need some time to recover or heal?
- How often in your life are you taking time to honor your body’s messages to yourself?
- Are you self-reflecting on the messages your body sends, and are you taking action on those messages?
- How are you adopting the cues you get from self-reflection about showing up for yourself?
- When you are asked a question, will you give yourself the space in that moment to see where your answers lead you?
- Will you see an opportunity to create an intimate connection with the person asking you the question?
- Can we vulnerably share the origins of our behaviors and beliefs so that someone else can know us on a deeper level?

EP93: Energy Attracts Energy
Do you know anyone who seems to always get lucky? They may not be as lucky as you think. In life, the energy you give the world is often times the energy you see and experience from the world. This episode talks about how energy attracts energy.
I spent a crazy week filled with highs and lows. One of the highs was that I caught up with a good friend for the first time in a while. He’s a Strider, so we spoke a bit about the podcast, and then we started talking about life. Our conversation turned into a thoughtful exploration, especially around the idea that we’re all energy. I started to think about how energy attracts energy in this world and all around us.
I’m here to spend quality solo time with you for EP93’s Wise Walk as we discover our True Stride. We are responsible for the energy that we give, receive, and interact with so it’s important to be mindful. Our energy can change in the split of a moment. We attract more aligned situations when we take inventory of the energy that we give our attention.
On our Wise Walk, I explore energy management and how to shift out of energetic lows. Come with me as we reflect on these Wise Walk questions:
-
- Where in your life are you noticing the energy that you’re sending or receiving?
- What is the energy that you’re surrounding yourself with or that makes up the environment that you are in?
- How is that energy affecting you emotionally, physically, and spiritually?
- Are you able to notice how energy can pull you in a new direction if you’re not paying attention to yourself?
I believe we should be ambassadors of positivity. Even as I record podcast episodes for you, I’m careful about my energy during the time I’m recording. That energy could transfer to you, and I want that energy to be a high vibration for Striders.
We are developing skills, behaviors, and patterns with every Wise Walk so that we have the tools to ask ourselves reflective questions. If we share our elevated Joy Frequency with the people we interact with, that energy continues to grow outwards to others we may never meet. Create more aligned energy with these Wise Walk questions:
-
- In what areas in your life do you find yourself getting triggered?
- Can you find grace in your heart for when your energy gets sidetracked?
- What can you do to bring your energy back on track?
- How can you keep your energetic vibration high regardless of what is happening around you?
- Are there areas in life where you can give energy to help people out of their energetic lows?
- Are you taking time for those joyful moments?

EP92: Clarity & Space for What Matters
Our bodies, our minds, and our emotions function at a higher level when we are well rested. That’s why we need to be careful of excessive planning. This episode talks about finding the clarity and space for what really matters.
I’m back from vacation! I went on vacation last week with my family and we had a successful bonding time. Being with all my loved ones was very memorable. I was able to have tons of fun doing things like family dinners and walking on the beach with my mom and sisters. With all the good things about this trip, there was one really nice aspect that I didn’t fully anticipate.
I’m here to spend quality solo time with you for EP92’s Wise Walk as we discover our True Stride. You remember that I made a commitment to take a break from the “planner” part of my personality for this vacation. As a result of that commitment, it created space for other magical things to happen. It turned out much better than any expectation. My trip was filled with playing games, having intimate conversations, and sharing warm laughs.
On our Wise Walk, I discuss how you can make decisions that give you clarity and space for what really matters. Come with me as we reflect on these Wise Walk questions:
-
- Where in your life are you allowing yourself to be unplanned or unscheduled so that you have the freedom to create some spontaneous intimate scenarios with your loved ones?
- When you have these unplanned days or unplanned vacations, are you able to let go of the time constraints that you usually put on yourself so you can listen to your own body’s rhythm?
- What does listening and paying attention to your body’s rhythm empower you to do?
Let’s get rid of crowded schedules that distract us from being fully present. When we are intentional about not over planning, we open space for intimate conversations and Aha moments to surface in our life.
Choose activities and habits that help you step into your highest good. Create space in your routines with these Wise Walk questions:
-
- What in your day-to-day life really matters to you?
- What in your life are nice to have, but maybe you create space and let them go so that you can have unplanned time to rejuvenate?
- Are you willing to try out that way of life for this week?
- Where in your life can you create space for rest?

EP91: What Vacation Means to You
If you could imagine time off, what would you be doing? Where would you go? Who would you ask to join you, if anyone? What would you hope to experience? This episode talks about what vacation means to you.
I am super excited for a vacation with my family. We are all heading out to stay under the same roof for some time away from everyday life. It’s been a while since we all got together for a family trip. What’s really different this time around is that I’m not planning everything out as I normally would. Instead, I’m going to choose a new set of vacation priorities.
I’m here to spend quality solo time with you for EP91’s Wise Walk as we discover our True Stride. Typically, I am the type of person who likes to maximize every part of the day. I enjoy planning and prepping for vacation to get the most out of the experience. For this upcoming trip, I’m ready to slow down with a relaxing vacation so I don’t miss the opportunity to truly connect with myself and my family.
On our Wise Walk, I discuss how we can change the way we use vacations. Come with me as we reflect on these Wise Walk questions:
-
- What in your life do you need a vacation from?
- Who do you need a vacation from?
- Do you need a vacation from the expectations you put on yourself day in and day out?
The word “vacation” relates to being empty, leaving something as a way to give yourself a break. It’s a way to disrupt a pattern in your life. You become free and “empty” of that responsibility.
Shift into the mentality of being free and present. Set your vacation intentions and new priorities with these Wise Walk questions:
-
- Where in your life can you set these vacation priorities?
- Where in your life do you need to be empty so you can be free?
- How are you going to fully step into the new role you’re choosing for yourself?
Join this inspiring community to uncover a new sense of freedom, and be sure to follow and review the True Stride podcast as we continue to exchange our light and Heart Value with each other.

Sometimes you need a buddy to exchange ideas and energy with. A buddy can help us with accountability and encouragement, or simply be a sounding board when we need to get our ideas and problems out. This episode talks about where in your life the power of support fuels your brave acts.
On the way back from hauling horses, I led the navigation from a separate car instead of being right beside my aunt. My aunt mentioned that she felt braver when we were next to each other, and her words made me think about the power of having someone by our side, like a wingwoman or wingman.
I’m here to spend quality solo time with you for EP90’s Wise Walk as we discover our True Stride. We dare to be braver when we are beside a buddy or in a tribe. Having someone supportive at your side makes life easier to manage and makes taking a leap seem less daunting.
On our Wise Walk, I discuss how you can connect with mutual support to bravely pursue your True Stride. I share my personal experiences, from finding a great running partner to joining a community while writing my book, Heart Value. Come with me as we reflect on these Wise Walk questions:
-
- Where in your life are there power in numbers?
- Where do you find yourself getting stronger or more brave because you have someone sitting beside you?
- What does it look like in your life when you don’t have that supportive person?
- Are there things that you’re struggling with right now because you are hesitant to ask for help or find support?
You can rally support for projects and missions close to your heart. Gather people that empathize with what you’re currently facing and where you’d like to go. You never know when you might need each other. Sometimes the people in your buddy system become encouragement for when you take a stumble.
As you bond with your support system, you can show up for each other in meaningful and heart-centered ways. Connect with your support system and go after what you want more confidently with these Wise Walk questions:
-
- What is something that you are dying to do, but you haven’t started?
- What’s something you used to love doing, but maybe lost confidence in, and now you want to regain that confidence?
- What does it look like for you to build a support system so you can follow your True Stride towards something that is meaningful to you?
- Where in your life is there a project calling you, and can you rally support for that project?
- Is there a person or a group that you can engage as a support system?

EP89: Honor Your Heartfelt Intentions
Life (in general) is about noticing, paying attention, and connecting with who we are and what truly matters as we expose ourselves to different situations. The more we understand how our intentions create our experiences from moment to moment, the more we can intentionally create experiences in ways that support our overall well being. This episode talks about how to honor your heartfelt intentions.
I recently taught yoga for the first time in a long while, and honestly, it felt great. I did feel nervous before starting since there was no way to tell how it would turn out exactly. Thinking about it, I’m glad I decided to be present with the class and breathe through the intentions of moving from pose to pose. Everyone is unique, so I know I can’t meet everyone’s needs, but I can cultivate a supportive space when led by intention.
I’m here to spend quality solo time with you for EP89’s Wise Walk as we discover our True Stride. Some of the intentions I prioritize these days are yoga, running, and the True Stride podcast. In my own practice, I find that intentions can change from moment to moment. I encourage you to drop down into your heart to double check if the intentions you set for yourself still align with your feelings in each current moment.
On our Wise Walk, I discuss how you can honor your heartfelt intentions. There is a different kind of joy in practicing self care alongside each other. Seeing people committing to themselves can be inspiring. Together, we can rebuild our heartfelt intentions around what we want to experience. Come with me as we reflect on these Wise Walk questions:
-
- What is your “why”?
- How do you follow your heartfelt intentions on a daily basis?
- As you think about the activities and people in your life, what experiences are you trying to create for yourself or the people who surround you?
- What is motivating you to create the experiences in your life?
- When you get distracted, how can you go back to your heartfelt intentions?
- Do you give yourself space and grace to pivot if an intention no longer aligns with you?
Reground and reconnect with your heart. When we are rebuilding, it usually feels like we are starting from the beginning and working our way back up. We can rebuild in a kind way, making sure we don’t overwhelm ourselves.
We deserve to ask ourselves questions, and see what comes up, so we can get back on track with what we envision. Give yourself permission to follow your heartfelt intentions with these Wise Walk questions:
-
- What activity will you give yourself freedom and permission to choose again, so that you can create new intentions and new experiences that feel right?
- Where can you give yourself grace to remind yourself of your “why”?
